 Aug. 19 Fall Youth Programs Open House. Learn about all the programs offered by the Town of Miami Lakes for kids, ages 3 and up. PLEASE NOTE NEW VENUE:  Roberto Alonso Community Center,  16500 NW 87th Ave. Free. 8 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Aug. 19 Main Street Summer Stage. Free concert at the Miami Lakes Farmer’s Market on Saturdays, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Bull Run Road at Main Street. Enjoy the show, vendors, food trucks and more.

Aug. 19 Senior Tech Connect. The Elderly Affairs Committee hosts Senior Tech Connect to teach elders about technology. Town Hall, 6601 Main St. 11 a.m. Free. 

Aug. 22 Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce/BNI/Economic Development Committee Business Networking Social at La Diosa Taqueria, 7321 Miami Lakes Drive. 5:30 p.m., free.

Aug. 23 Senior Bingo Luncheon. Join the Elderly Affairs Committee for its bi-monthly bingo luncheon for seniors 60+ in the Town of Miami Lakes. Enjoy lunch and a chance to play for prizes. Space is limited,  pre-registration is required. Town Hall, 6601 Main St. 11 a.m. Free. 

Aug. 26 Mr./Ms. Senior Miami Lakes Pageant The Town of Miami Lakes and its Elderly Affairs Committee present this event at Miami Lakes Hotel on Main, 6842 Main St. Food, music, talent show and more. Register at TOML.eventbrite.com. Open to the public, 12 p.m. - 3 p.m., free. 

Aug. 31 Coffee with a Cop. Get to know your local police force during a coffee with a cop event at McDonald’s in the Cypress Village Shopping Center, 7435 Miami Lakes Drive. 8:30 a.m., free. 

Sept. 7 Book Talk with Kirstin Chen. Join the Cultural Affairs Committee for this talk featuring Kirstin Chen, author of “Counterfeit,” a Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick; “Bury What We Cannot Take” and “Soy Sauce for Beginners.” Free book raffle, refreshments provided. Sept. 9 & 16 Youth EKG Screenings Barbara Goleman Gators Swamp, the town and Miami Lakes Optimist Club will provide  EKG screenings for kids. Optimist Park Clubhouse, 6411 NW 162nd St., 9 a.m. - Noon. Free.

Sept. 9 Senior Legal Forum. Join the Elderly Affairs Committee and learn about estate planning; fraud; foreclosure and legal rights in estate planning. Town Hall, 6601 Main St. Free. 10 a.m.

Sept. 9 Culinary Bike Tour. Cycle around town to get samples from different restaurants. Town Hall, 6601 Main St., depart at 6 p.m. $30.

Sept. 10 Waves of Flags: Honoring Patriot Day and Victims of 9/11. Veterans Park, 15151 NW 82nd Ave. Ceremony begins at 9 a.m. Free.

Sept. 16 Skate Miami Lakes. Bring your skateboard, rollerblades, scooters and helmets to Picnic Park East to enjoy the portable skate park. SkateFree will be on hand to teach skills. Picnic Park East, 6075 Miami Lakes Drive. Free. 10 a.m.

Sept. 16 104th Anniversary Party to celebrate The American Legion. Join American Legion Post 144 to mark the organization’s 104th anniversary. Lunch will be served. Enjoy raffles, music and dancing. Roberto Alonso Community Center, 16500 Northwest 87 Ave. 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. Free.
