June 17 Volunteer to fill sandbags. Join the Town of Miami Lakes and earn community service hours by helping to fill sandbags at Royal Oaks Park, 16500 NW 87 Ave. 10 a.m.
June 17 Father’s Day crafts at Youth Open Hang at The Spot. Kids ages 5 to 10 can craft Father’s Day gifts during the monthly Youth Open Hang at The Spot, 6075 Miami Lakes Drive. Food and drinks will be served. Free. 5:30 p.m.
June 18 Father’s Day Fishing Tournament at Graham Dairy Lake. The annual tournament presented by the Town of Miami Lakes and the Cultural Affairs Committee. A free event for dads and kids at Graham Dairy Lake, 8100 Govenors Square Blvd. Residents will be given live bait, but must have their own fishing gear and a valid freshwater fishing license for anglers aged 16 to 64. 8 a.m.
June 18 Juneteenth Celebration To observe the end of slavery, also known as Emancipation Day, the Miami Lakes Cultural Affairs Committee will present readings; keynote speaker J.S. Rashid from the Miami-Dade County Black Affairs Advisory Board and a music performance by Michael E. Kennedy. Light refreshments will be served. Free. 4 p.m., Miami Lakes Town Hall, 6601 Main St.
June 22 Tech Class for Seniors by ChenMed. Seniors can sign up for a technology class sponsored by the Elderly Affairs Committee at Miami Lakes Town Hall, 6601 Main St. Free. 11 a.m.
June 22 Teen Open Hang at The Spot. Kids ages 11 to 17 can enjoy the monthly hang out at The Spot, 6075 Miami Lakes Drive, with food and drinks as well as fun activities. Free. 6 p.m.
June 23 Senior field trip to watch the Miami Marlins play. The Elderly Affairs Committee will host a senior field trip to LoanDepot Park to watch the home team take on the Colorado Rockies. 10 a.m.
June 25 2nd Annual Pride Awareness Booth, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., at the Farmer’s Market, New Barn Road at Main Street, in Miami Lakes. Volunteers will distribute information on resources available for individuals and families in the LGBTQ community.
June 25 THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED. Teen Job Fair, sponsored by the town and Youth Activities Task Force, in partnership with Ana G. Mendez University. Up to a dozen employers will offer seasonal and possibly year-round jobs for teens. The school is at 15201 NW 79th Ct., Miami Lakes. 10 a.m. - noon. Dress to impress, bring a resume. Free.
June 30 Senior Bingo Luncheon. The Elderly Affairs Committee welcomes seniors to enjoy their popular senior bingo luncheon in Town Hall council chambers, 6601 Main St. Registration opens on June 16 and seats are limited. Free. 11 a.m.
