May 4. Memorial Day Poetry Contest Deadline. The Town of Miami Lakes and the Veterans Committee are calling for submissions of an original poem using the following prompt: “What Memorial Day means to me…”. The poem must be no more than two minutes in length when read aloud and the writer must be a student who is a town resident or attends a school in Miami Lakes. Prizes include a $25 Visa gift card, publication of the poem on town social media platforms and recitation of the poem at the town’s Memorial Day Event. Visit https://bit.ly/3v3rRVT to submit a poem.
