Constitution Day at Town Hall

     A forum to discuss the U.S. Constitution and promote student involvement in civic life was held Sept. 16 at Miami Lakes town hall.

     Sponsored by the EPIC Foundation and Mayor Manny Cid, it was organized by Maurits Acosta, a sophomore at Hialeah Miami Lakes Senior High School, founder of the Virtutem Populo civics organization and vice chair of the Youth Activities Task Force. Speakers were Bob Brazofsky, executive director of Miami-Dade County Public Schools Social Sciences Department; Juan-Carlos Planas, elections law professor at St. Thomas University and former state legislator; Deputy Town Attorney Lorenzo Cobiella, and Melanie Ulloa, a student at the School for Advanced Studies and District 13 youth commissioner.
