Coronavirus testing site opens at Amelia Earhart Park
Appointments are being taken for COVID-19 testing to be done at Amelia Earhart Park for residents of northwest Miami-Dade County, a process that began April 1, County Commissioner Esteban Bovo, Jr. said on Facebook.
The park is at 401 E. 65th St. in Hialeah.
Cars may hold two people who must have already made appointments to be tested by calling 305-COVID19.
Enter the park at Palm Avenue and East 65th Street. Testing will happen Monday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the rotunda near the park entrance.
Residents who are 18 or older and experiencing certain symptoms can make appointments, Bovo's spokeswoman said on April 7.
Previously those who thought they were ill had to be 65 or older to use this testing site.
Go to CDC.gov to review symptoms that include fever, dry cough and shortness of breath.
The call center opens at 9 a.m. each day and will remain open until appointments for the next day are filled.
No one will be permitted to walk into the testing site or ride a bike or moped inside.
Those who have test appointments must sit by a working car window.
