Council honors volunteers and staff for Food & Wine Fest

Mayor Manny Cid and Councilmembers honored a group of Miami Lakes community members who coordinated and participated as volunteers for the first Miami Lakes Food and Wine Festival during the March 6 Council meeting.

Lynn Matos was applauded for her inspiring efforts in the coordination of the successful event which was supported by the Cultural Affairs and Economic Development committees.

Matos is a local Real Estate professional, was the former longtime chair of the Youth Activities Task Force and the current chair of the Public Safety Committee.

Over 1,000 attendees sipped and savored for a charitable cause as all proceeds from the event’s tickets, donations, and sales benefited the Miami Lakes Town Foundation 501(c)(3) which was created to encourage, foster, and conduct programs for the continuing education and literary education of community members.

Matos thanked her festival team of dedicated volunteers and supportive Town staff for contributing to the event’s success.

Volunteer participants included Andy Perez, Anel Ruano, Calixto Vallejo, Carlos Garcia, Daly Batista-Batchelor, Dwight Albert Roldan, Dwight Roldan, Eric Rodriguez, Giuseppe Zuozo, Gladys Roldan, Gloria Garcia, Haydee Sera, JC Fernandez, Jorge Garcia, Jorge Pena, Nancy Rogers, Nicolai Guzman, Omar Gonzalez, Pilar Fernandez, Robert Alonso and Tony Fernandez.

Town staff involved with the event included Charisma Glassman, Clarisell De Cardenas, Ashley Shepple, Helen Roldan, Ximena Suarez, Ismael Diaz, Lorenzo Cobiella, Kristina Labossiere, Daniel Angel, Jeremy Bajdaun, Lourdes Rodriguez, Michelle Gonzalez and Nathalie Garcia.
