Mayor Wayne Slaton and the Town Council presented a Certificate of Excellence to young resident Christina Delgado, a Miami Lakes K-8 Center student, at the January 13 Council meeting, for her exceptional volunteer service.

For more than three years, Delgado has been a member of the Youth Activities Task Force (YATF) and is the committee’s current vice chair. She has volunteered hundreds of hours of her time to events hosted by the YATF and other local causes.

In recognition of her passion for service, Delgado was recently awarded the national President’s Volunteer Service Award granted by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of President Barack Obama.

“We are very proud of Christina’s dedication and passion for service,” said Slaton. “She is a great example for other young students who are looking to get involved and give back to their local community.”
