Mayor Manny Cid and councilmembers recognized several community members for their accomplishments and community support.
Councilmember Tim Daubert, on behalf of the Council, recognized Purple Heart medal recipients in the Town which has been proclaimed one of three communities in Miami-Dade County as a Purple Heart Community.
May 28 was proclaimed to be Purple Heart Day in the Town and Daubert announced there will be dedicated parking at all locations in the Town for Purple Heart recipients.
Officer Rose Viera, who has been serving Miami Lakes since incorporation in 2000 as a member of the Miami-Dade Police unit in Miami Lakes, was awarded a proclamation of her hard work and dedication to the community. Viera will be retiring in July after 20 years of service. June 5 was proclaimed Rose Viera Day in the Town.
