The Town of Miami Lakes is hosting a Town Hall meeting to discuss the possibility of opening up bridges at N.W. 170 Street in Hialeah and N.W. 154 Street (Miami Lakes Drive) in Miami Lakes.
The meeting, which is scheduled for Wednesday, April 19 at 6:30 at Town Hall, 6601 Main Street, was called following residents’ concerns over the projects causing more traffic problems from motorists in Miami Lakes and Palm Springs North.
In February, Miami-Dade County Commission Chairman Esteban Bovo Jr., sponsored legislation which called for FDOT to conduct a study to see if opening up N.W. 170 Street is feasible.
Bovo, who represents the district, said with new commercial and residential developments on land west of I-75, opening up the bridge is the only solution to alleviate traffic congestion in that vicinity.
In addition, County Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz mentioned he’s seeking to sponsor legislation in the future to open N.W. 154 Street.
Miami Lakes and Hialeah reached an inter local agreement in 2007 to keep that roadway closed.
Northwest Miami-Dade residents will have the opportunity to learn more about the actions taken and to share their concerns with elected officials.
