ater-efficient irrigation helps conserve water and also lowers bills.
That’s the message the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department is getting out there in July, which is Smart Irrigation Month.
To help residents do things such as lawn watering as efficiently, the county offers free irrigations through its Landscape Irrigation Rebate Program. Qualified single-family homeowners can earn annual rebates of up to $500 for up to five years after implementing recommended improvements. Rebates for homeowners associations and owners of large properties, including commercial properties and hotels, can receive rebates of up to $2,850.
“In 2025 alone, customers participating in our conservation rebate programs helped save more than 116,000 gallons of water per day,” WASD Director Jay J. Fink said in a statement. “These results demonstrate the impact that residents and businesses can have when they take advantage of available conservation programs and make water efficiency a priority.”
Rebates also exist for indoor conservation equipment such as high-efficiency shower heads and toilets, as well as for rain barrels. To participate in the Rain Barrel Rebate Program, residents must participate in a virtual workshop on the subject and purchase a qualifying rain barrel.
