Daubert ends campaign for council

Government Friday, November 15, 2019

Citing a health scare, Tim Daubert has withdrawn from the race to replace Miami Lakes Vice Mayor Nelson Rodriguez, who’s term limited.

Daubert, 62, declined to disclose his health issue.

“I will be taking care of myself for a couple of years,” Daubert said. “That means no stress, losing weight and exercising.”

Daubert, a home remodeler, sought to return to the council after serving two terms.

The charter allows mayors and council members to serve two consecutive, four-year terms. They must wait two years before running again.

Daubert hasn’t ruled out a future campaign.

Antonio “Tony” Fernandez, 34, runs a technology services firm and is the sole candidate seeking Seat 1.
