Debate for three county mayoral candidates on Feb. 10

Three of eight candidates for mayor of Miami-Dade County are scheduled to debate at True Channel Studios in Miami Lakes on Feb. 10.
Invited by the Hialeah-
Miami Lakes Republican Club are current County Commissioners Esteban Bovo Jr., 57, and Xavier Suarez, 70, and former Miami-Dade County Mayor Alex Penelas, 58.
All three candidates have experience in local politics; Penelas and Bovo began their careers as Hialeah city councilmembers and Suarez is a former mayor of Miami.
They seek to replace incumbent Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez, who is term limited.
Club President Juan Barek said the remaining candidates – Daniella Levine Cava (who is second behind Penelas in fundraising); County
Commissioner Jean
Monestime; businesswoman Monique Nicole Barley;
Realtor Ludmilla Domond and former candidate for Miami mayor, Robert Ingram Burke -- may be invited to a future debate.
The debate, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., will air live on TheTrueChannel.com and can be heard on the radio at 97.4 FM, according to Barek.
Those who wish to attend the debate in person, held at the studios at
14470 Commerce Way, can also have dinner for a $20 fee.
