Deputy Town Manager Antonio “Tony” Lopez received two honors recently.
South Florida Business Journal named Lopez to its Forty under 40 Class of 2020.
And he was chosen for the 2020-2021 Leadership Florida Connect.
The program brings together people from all areas of society and enhances their development as leaders through five sessions that are held throughout the state during nine months.
The programming focuses on issues unique and specific to Florida, the organization said.
Attendees are from the worlds of politics and government; corporations; small businesses; education; non-profits; health care; agriculture and law enforcement.
Lopez has worked for Miami Lakes for more than 15 years.
In February 2018, Town Manager Edward Pidermann promoted Lopez from chief operating officer to deputy town manager.
Prior to his promotion, Lopez implemented all town operational initiatives and policies and provided the vision for major community development projects in parks, town beautification, public safety, infrastructure, and mobility, the town announced then.
Lopez, shown above in a photo provided by the town, also completed the Miami Foundation’s Miami Fellows leadership program.
He is a 2021 doctoral degree candidate in Business Administration at Florida International University, where he is an adjunct professor, according to his LinkedIn page.
