Elderly Affairs Committee hosts senior events in May

Miami Lakes Elderly Affairs Committee (EAC) has several events planned for Miami Lakes seniors during May. For those events requiring reservations, participants are asked to contact Nathalie Garcia at 305-364- 6100, or by email to garcian@miamilakes-fl.gov. 

 Tech Forum: Saturday, May 26, from 10 a.m. to noon, at Mary Collins Community Center, 15151 N.W. 82 Avenue. Seniors will learn about the advantages of smartphones and how to navigate Apple and Android products. Participants will also learn how to use social media apps such as Facebook and Instagram. 

 Lunch Bunch and Bingo: An opportunity to socialize and make new friends while having fun and enjoying nutritious lunches provide by Giardino’s Gourmet Salads. Lunch dates are from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23 (sponsored by Palm Medical Centers). Seating is limited and reservations are required. 

 Miami Marlins Field Trips: Miami Lakes residents 65 years and over are invited to “Wellmax Senior Thursdays” at Miami Marlins games. Free transportation is provided to the Marlins Stadium. The bus will depart at 4:30 p.m. (unless other time noted) from Miami Lakes Optimist Park Clubhouse, 6411 N.W. 162 Street. Seating is limited and reservations are required. 

 The next Marlins field trip is set for Thursday, June 14 (9:45 a.m. departure).
