Miami Lakes Town Hall will be the site for a second public meeting about property insurance hosted by Fla. Rep. Tom Fabricio, R-Miami Lakes.
Florida Insurance Commissioner Michael Yaworsky leads the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation, which sets the rates and otherwise regulates the industry in the state. He will join Fabricio at Town Hall on Aug. 1.
Fabricio’s office said the pair will discuss recent reforms, the future of the state’s insurance market and making policies more affordable.
The public is invited to the session, to be held at 6601 Main St., Miami Lakes at 6 p.m.
In June, Fabricio also hosted a public meeting about insurance, and invited Citizens Property Insurance President Tom Cerio to discuss the industry and Citizen’s higher rates compared to the other property insurers.
Attendees asked about topics such as how to retain policies and how to get issues addressed.
Miami Lakes Vice Mayor Tony Fernandez discussed how Citizens dropped his account during installation of a fence around his pool, which Cerio said should not have happened.
