The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six is developing the design for two roadway projects along SR 826/Palmetto Expressway, in northwest Miami-Dade County.

The limits of the projects extend along the Palmetto from east of N.W. 57 Avenue to west of N.W. 27 Avenue, and from west of N.W. 27 Avenue to west of N.W. 17 Avenue, affecting residents and motorists in the City of Miami Gardens and the Town of Miami Lakes.

The projects will cost an estimated $12.6 million with construction expected to start in April 2016 and last about 10 months.

A public information meeting was held on Wednesday, September 17, at the North Dade Regional Library, with graphic displays and FDOT representatives available to discuss the projects and answer questions from the public.

The projects include repaving and restriping the frontage road at N.W. 167 Street, widening the frontage road from N.W. 167 Street to provide a 5-foot bicycle lane, extending the eastbound right land at N.W. 47 Avenue exit ramp, upgrading pedestrian ramps to current standards, providing minor drainage improvements, updating signage and pavement markings, repairing a bridge, and installing visual guards to concrete median to enhance safety.
