Miami Lakes announced the successful completion of the first phase of one the state-funded Canal Stabilization Projects.
Through the FY2014 legislative appropriations, with sponsorship by State Representative Manny Diaz Jr., the Town received $1 million in grant funds for the first phase of stabilization. The project included the design and construction of approximately 3,000 linear feet of the Golden Glades Canal along the western boundary of N.W. 77 Court, and the southern boundary of N.W. 170 Street, which were the most unstable portions of the canal bank and the areas most impacted by erosion.
Miami Lakes is actively pursuing State funds to continue the stabilization efforts westward along the N.W. 170 Street canal embankment.
