Florida's back-to-school sales tax holiday Aug. 3-5

Beginning August 3 through 5, a tax free holiday will give parents an opportunity to buy school supplies at cheaper prices. The three-day back-to-school event includes duty free offers on clothing, shoes and backpacks starting at $60 or less and school supplies $15 or less. 

In regards to clothing, articles that are not tax exempt include: Watches, watchbands, jewelry, umbrellas or handkerchiefs. Shoes and footwear do not include skis, swim fins, roller blades and skates. Backpacks, including articles such as wallets, handbags, fanny packs or diaper bags. briefcases, suitcases and other garment bags are not tax exempt.
