Residents who want to play pickleball on the west courts at Miami Lakes Optimist Park will have to find another place for matches during the next few weeks.
Those courts are closed while the town resurfaces them and four additional new courts are built.
The east courts at Optimist Park and will remain open and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the town.
The project began on July 9, according to Andres Pineiro, Parks and Athletics manager for the Town of Miami Lakes.
“[The project] has a tentative completion date of three weeks, weather permitting,” Pineiro wrote in an email.
Once construction is completed, the town will hold a grand opening ceremony for the new courts.
Until then, pickleball players can meet at Royal Oaks Park, where a pop-up pickleball court will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 p.m. until the park closes at sunset.
