The Miami Lakes Fourth of July celebration had all the ingredients for a fun party: Perfect weather, live music, food trucks and fireworks.
An estimated 9,000 people came to Veterans Park to mark the country’s independence.
The crowd was well-behaved and there were no incidents, according to Miami-Dade Police’s Miami Lakes Division.
Organized by the town, its Cultural Affairs Committee and the Special Needs Advisory Board, attractions that appealed to a wide audience were sponsored by The Graham Companies; Memorial Healthcare System; The Morera Law Group, P.A.; Miami Lakes AutoMall; Planet Fitness; Baptist Health and Cigna Healthcare; Prestige Windows & Doors and TRU Legal.
Fireworks launched from Graham Dairy Lake lit up the sky while residents enjoyed music performed by The Jackson Bunn Group.
A Kids Zone featured carnival games and a nine-hole miniature golf course.
The Florida Marketplace Group, which stages the weekly Farmer’s Market, coordinated 16 food vendors.
Kids and adults cooled off and played games inside the Mary Collins Community Center, where noise-reducing headphones were provided.
Earlier in the day, American Legion Post 144 held its annual barbecue in the park.
