Full calendar of events for town seniors during March

Miami Lakes Elderly Affairs Committee (EAC) has planned a wide array of special events for senior citizens during the month of March.

Karaoke Senior Social – Miami Lakes residents 55 years and above are invited to sing along at the Karaoke Social from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 10. Seating is limited and provided on a first come, first served basis.

The event will be held at the Roberto Alonso Community Center, 16500 N.W. 87 Avenue.

Mount Sinai Medical Center Presents: Leg Pain – Could it be Vascular Disease Workshop. EAC’s fifth health workshop will feature guest speaker Dr. Brandon Olivieri who completed his fellowship training in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at New York’s Mount Sinai Medical Center.

The workshop is scheduled on Tuesday, March 13, from 11 a.m. to noon in Town Hall’s Council Chambers, 6601 Main Street. A light lunch will be served courtesy of Mount Sinai Medical Center.

Lunch Bunch and Bingo will be held twice during the month on Wednesdays, March 14 and 28, sponsored by Leon Medical Centers. 

Seniors can socialize, make new friends, and enjoy nutritious lunches provided by Giardino’s Gourmet Salads.

Senior Games - Canasta Tournament: EAC’s 12th annual Senior Games continue with this tournament scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. on Friday, March 16, at the Mary Collins Community Center, 15151 N.W. 82 Avenue.

Participants will receive Senior Games’ t-shirts and medals will be awarded to winners in each age division for the male and female groups.

Miami Jewish Health Presents: Ending Alzheimer’s...Learn ways to slow the #1 epidemic – Dr. Marc E. Agronin, vice president of Behavioral Health & Clinical Research at Miami Jewish Health, will present the workshop from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, March 29, at Town Hall Council Chambers, 6601 Main Street.

A graduate of Harvard University and the Yale School of Medicine, Agronin is a Board-certified adult and geriatric psychiatrist and the author of the acclaimed book “How We Age.”
