Goleman student gathers 100s of toys for hospitalized kids

     The Miami Lakes town council honored Barbara Goleman Senior High School senior Montserrat Hernandez for her community service. Montserrat was recognized on Jan. 16 for her holiday toy drive that benefitted children in Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, Holtz Children’s Hospital and Nicklaus Children’s Hospital.

     Teacher Ana Soto says Montserrat collected 500 toys. Vice Mayor Tony Fernandez presented Montserrat with a certificate and noted all the teen’s efforts, which involved taking time during her weekends to collect the toys.
