Juan Rodriguez recognized for winning Crime Watch’s Municipal Officer of the Year

Miami Lakes Community Service Officer Juan Rodriguez was named the Municipal Police Officer of the Year at the 41st annual Citizens’ Crime Watch of Miami-Dade recent award ceremony.

The Town Council recognized this important achievement at the Mayor’s recent State of the Town Address. 

Rodriguez has consistently demonstrated his dependable community-oriented approach to policing, maintaining a great rapport with the Miami-Dade Police Department and Town residents.

As a certified Florida Crime Prevention Practitioner, Rodriguez applies his skills on a regular basis as he conducts both residential and commercial security surveys. He also attends all homeowners’ association meetings and participates in monthly meetings with the Town’s Elderly Affairs Committee, Youth Activities Task Force, and Public Safety Committee. 

Rodriguez has served on several special event planning committees ensuring success and safety at all events. He was commended for his role in planning and participating in the first ever Brenna Vergara 5K event last December. Along with his fellow police officers, he lined the 5K route providing a secure path for over 2,000 participants to enjoy. 

Further, Rodriguez also serves as the Sergeant at Arms at Town Council and Planning and Zoning meetings, and assists with daily traffic flow at Bob Graham Education Center.
