Miami Lakes residents have several candidates to vote for in local and county races on Nov. 5.
Here are key dates:
Oct. 7 The deadline to register to vote.
Oct. 24 The deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot.
Oct. 21 – Nov. 3 Early voting. Polls are open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Mary Collins Community Center at 15151 NW 82nd Ave. is the Miami Lakes early voting location.
Nov. 5 Election Day is the deadline to return a mail-in ballot. It must be received by the elections department no later than 7 p.m. that night. Don’t wait, mail or drop it off early.
Nov. 5 Election Day.
Nov. 26 Miami Lakes runoff election if needed.

Sheriff: Democrat James Reyes vs. Republican Rosanna ‘Rosie’ Cordero-Stutz.
U.S. Senate: Incumbent Rick Scott, R-Naples vs. former U.S. Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, D-Miami.
Congress: Incumbent U.S. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, R-Miami vs. Democrat Joey Atkins.
Miami-Dade County Tax Collector: Democrat Juan-Carlos ‘J.C.’ Planas vs. Republican Dariel Fernandez.
State Representative District 110: Fla. Rep. Tom Fabricio, R-Miami Lakes vs. Democrat Stanley “J.P.” Jean-Poix.
State Senate District 39: Fla. Sen. Bryan Avila, R-Miami Springs vs. Democrat Charles A. Lewis.
