Lake Quality Awareness Month kicks off on Saturday, August 2

Community Wednesday, July 30, 2014

In recognition of Lake Quality Awareness Month, Miami Lakes’ Neighborhood Improvement Committee (NIC) will hold a kickoff event at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, at Graham Park/Meadow Walk Park, 6800 N.W. Meadow Walk.

Residents are encouraged to bring their family, friends and neighbors to enjoy an educational event in one of the town’s best parks, and learn about one of Miami Lakes’ most important treasures.

The free event will feature educational booths with information on the best management practices to maintain the cleanliness of lakes and community service opportunities for high school students, as well as food trucks to enjoy a bite to eat.

Lake Quality Awareness Month, now in its second year, was established by the NIC and Councilmember Tony Lama in order to raise awareness about the quality of town lakes, and to recognize the important role that lakes play in the Town’s public image and recreational life.

For more information on the event, contact Gina Inguanzo at iguanzog@miamilakes-fl.gov, or call 305-364-1138.
