Last week, Florida’s Lt. Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera paid a visit to Miami Lakes, where he met with town officials and residents to discuss the town’s legislative priorities.
His visit included a tour of observing infrastructure projects and ongoing projects in the 6.5-square-mile town.
“I am proud and honored to be invited to visit Miami Lakes and I look forward to getting back here soon,” Lopez-Cantera said. “I’m grateful to council members for their hard work and passion toward their residents to make sure they have a better quality of life everyday.”
The town is pursuing state funding for Legislative priorities for 2017-2018, seeking a total of $3.9 million for capital improvement projects such as $1 million for the canal bank stabilization project, $65,000 for the West Lakes Drainage Improvements, $328,6000 for the Lake Sarah/Lake Hilda Drainage improvements, $1 million for the 59th Avenue Extension project and $1 million for the N.W. 87th Avenue ramp to State Road 924 extension west to the Homestead of the Florida’s Turnpike Project.
