Community Wednesday, June 18, 2014

Local musician, volunteer and activist Sean Gould will be presented a special certificate of appreciation for his work to clean up North Miami and Hialeah on Tuesday, May 20 at 8:30 a.m. at the Stephen P. Clark Center, in the Board of County Commissioners Chamber, located at 111 N.W. 1st Street in Miami.

Gould launched his "Birdman’s Trash Initiative" on January 1, 2014 with the personal goal of picking up one piece of trash per day and the larger drive to spur similar action by others. He has since led 15 "Flash Trash Mobs" cleaning up parks and stretches throughout Miami-Dade County.

Gould has collected more than 50,000 pieces of trash, gained more than 3,000 local and regional members on his Facebook group and worked with elementary school volunteers on Earth Day. Also, he has been recognized by North Miami Mayor Lucie Tondreau and the Miami Heat team during the NBA’s Green Week.
