Mater's Mercedes Ferreira-Dias named to Presidential Scholars

Mercedes F. Ferreira-Dias is a senior at Mater Lakes Academy (MLA). Not only is she the school’s Valedictorian, but she will also be attending Harvard University. In addition to all her prestigious accomplishments, on May 8 she was endowed with the honor of being selected into the Presidential Scholars program.
This program has recognized her as a high school senior from Miami-Dade County as the 2019 U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts out of a group of 161 students nationwide. She has become a member of the 55 class of United States Presidential Scholars. She qualified for this based off her scores in the SAT/ACT and nomination from the National YoungArts Foundation’s YoungArts competition.
MLA wishes her the best of luck and hope she enjoys her trip to Washington, D.C., as she attends a ceremony supported by the White House on June 23.
