Miami Lakes Mayor Manny Cid payed a visit to the Hialeah Miami Lakes Senior (HML) High Law Studies Program on Monday, April 23.
The Mayor spoke to legal studies students at length about several topics, including the importance of voting, government structures and the different steps involved in law making.
Students asked questions regarding traffic, ways to contact law makers and long term goals for the Town of Miami Lakes. Students also received tips for working on their presentation for Project Citizen, a competition where high school groups propose legislation to state law makers.
Before leaving, Cid joined the students in filming a public service announcement (PSA) encouraging students to register to vote. The PSA was posted on Twitter and broadcast through the school.
