Miami Lakes beautification projects being implemented starting in March

In 2014, Miami Lakes adopted a town-wide Beautification Master Plan to serve as a vision and provide guidance as to what and how the physical environment within the Town should appear.

The master plan addresses issues including median planting improvements, pocket-neighborhood park beautification, gateway entry features, crosswalk beautification, and other right-of-way improvements typical of most streetscape beautification projects.

Last year, the Town began the initial phases of the master plan improvements by installing pavers at the bull noses of select media areas on Miami Lakes Drive,  and in February, installed brick pavers at the crosswalk area on Bull Run Road and Main Street.

This month, the Town will begin beautification and streetscape improvements at N.W. 154 Street and the Palmetto Expressway gateway with the installation of large palms, new landscaping, and brick paver installation on the roadway.

Alluding to the concerns of residents about increased traffic congestion while the work on Miami Lakes Drive is being done, the Town indicated that project will be done within three weeks with work scheduled on a 24-hour basis.

Future projects include:

• Construction of an entrance feature fountain and installation of landscaping at N.W. 67 Avenue and 138 Street gateway area;

• Landscape enhancements at the N.W. 77 Court/154 Street intersection;

• Gateway landscape and streetscape improvements at N.W. 67 Avenue and Palmetto Expressway and N.W. 87 Avenue and I-75 intersection.
