Consultant, gallery curator and longtime Miami Lakes resident Christopher Norwood cited three “ships” when he addressed the Chamber of Commerce luncheon on June 8.

Relationships, scholarship and workmanship are the three things that people should take care of to be successful in business and in life, Norwood said.

“I have always nurtured relationships, no matter how small or how big, no matter what titles people have,” Norwood said.

Norwood added that one never knows how it may help to have such relationships during one’s life.

Norwood is the curator of Hampton Art Lovers at the Historic Ward Rooming House gallery in Overtown and owns his own consulting firm.

He has volunteered in town, as a basketball coach and commissioner at the Miami Lakes Optimist Club.

Other service he has performed in the town he “loves” includes being the former chair of the Youth Activities Task Force, where he is credited with starting the Movies in the Park series.

He has also served as an urban scouting specialist for the Boy Scouts of America

Norwood described the importance of continuing to learn something new every day, as well as having a strong work ethic.

Having the ability to create something is important and builds confidence, he said.

The Chamber’s next luncheon will be held July 13 at the Miami Lakes Hotel on Main, 6842 Main St. Networking begins at 11:30 a.m.
