Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce welcomes State Senator Rene Garcia as guest speaker on May 9

State Senator Rene Garcia will be the guest speaker at the next Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce luncheon meeting scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9, at Shula’s Hotel Grand Ballroom.

Garcia is the son of immigrant parents from Cuba and was born and raised in Hialeah. IN 1997, he was elected to the Hialeah City Council, and in 2000, was elected to the Florida House of Representatives, serving eight years, and elected to the Florida Senate in 2010.

Throughout his years of public service, Garcia has been a relentless advocate for children, and ensuring that Florida residents have access to quality healthcare. He currently is chair of the Children, Families, and Elder Affairs Committee, Vice Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Finance and Tax, and serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on the Environment and Natural Resources, Subcommittee on General Government, Banking and Insurance, Judiciary, and the Joint Administrative Procedures Committee.

Garcia obtained his bachelor’s degree in Political Science at Florida International University and completed a Master’s degree in Business Administration at the University of Miami.
