The Town of Miami Lakes honored Rosa “Rosy” Barroso with a proclamation for her work in the community.
Barroso owns The Therapy Labs; Bio-Tech Hub, a fingerprinting company and has her own non-profit firm, Verbal Vitamins.
She is a licensed mental health counselor, serves as vice chair of the Mental Health Task Force and is Secretary 1 for the Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce.
Mayor Josh Dieguez described Barroso’s activities on behalf of others before the May 20 council meeting began. Among her contributions to residents and the community were donating free counseling services to those in need. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Barroso and The Therapy Labs provided weekly wellness calls to over 200 elderly residents and also delivered food and supplies to elders. She helped revitalize the Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce and sponsored local events as a volunteer and contributor. Also, she helped create the Mental Health Task Force, Dieguez said.
He proclaimed May 28 as Rosa Barroso Day.
