Miami Lakes Mayor Michael Pizzi hosted a commemorative event on Friday, September 11, in front of the Veteran’s Memorial at Town Hall. The event began at 8:46 a.m., the same time the first place crashed into the World Trade Center.

Pastor Bert Leon of the Palm Springs North Baptist Church led attendees in prayer and took a moment of silence to honor and remember all of the victims of September 11, 2001.

Vice Mayor Manny Cid, members of the Town’s Police Department and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue stations in Miami Lakes, as well as Town staff were present.

“It was a moving occasion honoring not only those who lost their lives, but also those who continue to serve,” said Pizzi. “The large number of firefighters and police officers who attended were very much appreciated and I was happy to see our Town united in support of our first responders.”
