A team of Miami Lakes officials traveled to the nation’s capital last month to meet with legislators about proposed projects for the town.

“We’re doing the people’s business up here in Washington and we’re ensuring that your voices are heard …” Miami Lakes Mayor Manny Cid said in a Nov. 16 Facebook post.

The group – Cid, his son Noah Cid; Deputy Town Attorney Lorenzo Cobiella and Councilmen Josh Dieguez and Tony Fernandez -- met with members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives about the long-sought Zip Code for the Town of Miami Lakes.

They also talked with the Federal Aviation Administration about a proposed bridge that would connect Northwest 59th Avenue to Miami Lakes Drive and may impact a runway protection zone for Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport, and met with the U.S. Department of Transportation about ramps from the bridges at Northwest 170th Street and Northwest 154th Street onto Interstate 75, according to Cid.
