The Miami Lakes Public Safety Committee presented a $500 check to the South Florida Police Benevolent Association’s Love and Resilience Fund during the March 17 council meeting. The fund supports officers who are experiencing a crisis. The money was raised during the committee’s inaugural car show. Its display of 100 vehicles drew around 1,000 spectators, Committee Chair Carlos Andres said.

“It was a lot of excitement, not just because of the cars but because we were supporting law enforcement and firemen and firewomen,” Andres said.

Alex Munoz, treasurer for the South Florida Police Benevolent Association, said, “This helps out countless officers and their families.”
