M.L. youth offered YMCA and PEAR spring break camps

Town of Miami Lakes, in partnership with PEAR and the YMCA, will be offering Spring Break Camps beginning the week of March 21.

The camps will run Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., for children between the ages of 5 and 15 years old. Both organizations also offer after school care from 2 to 6 p.m. during the school year with transportation available.

Spring Break Camp with PEAR will take place the new Youth Center at Miami Lakes East Park, 6075 Miami Lakes Drive East, while the YMCA will host its camp at the Roberto Alonso Community Center, 16500 N.W. 87 Avenue.

The PEAR Camp has a theme of “Goin’ Green” and will explore the importance of preserving and protecting the environment and includes a trip to Jungle Island. The weekly fee is $125 with a 10 percent discount for siblings.

The YMCA Camp will feature free swimming lessons for all campers. Parents are advised to pack a lunch, snack, a pair of comfortable sneakers, water bottle, swim suit, sandals, sunblock and a change of clothes. The weekly fee is $100.
