Miami Lakes was recently awarded additional funding from the 2016 Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) cycle by the Miami-Dade County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO).

The award, in the amount of $541,494, will be used to construct additional bicycle lanes and landscaped pedestrian walkways running along N.W. 146 Street between N.W. 89 and 87 avenues.

In early 2016, the Town was also awarded $85,000 to use toward the Greenways and Trails project running along N.W. 77 Court. And in September, another $40,000 was awarded by MPO to assist with the design and development of the Complete Streets Implementation Plan.

These projects will complement existing and planned greenways addressed in the Town’s Greenways and Trails Master Plan. A broader network of multi-use paths will improve mobility for bicyclists and allow them to take advantage of Miami-Dade’s Bike & Ride program.
