The Town of Miami Lakes wrapped up Parks and Recreation Month by presenting a proclamation to its Parks and Recreation department.
At the July 21 council meeting, Mayor Josh Dieguez presented a proclamation to the department to recognize them for their hard work.
“As the mayor mentioned, our parks are unique to our community, our parks are extremely, extremely valuable to us,” Parks and Recreation Director Jeremy Bajdaun said.
Parks were master-planned into the community before homes were built in Miami Lakes, Bajdaun noted.
“There was always this idea of a park being in walking distance of every home, we don’t have that everywhere in northwest Miami-Dade,” he said.
He called having parks close to home a treasure to the community and said his team does a great job of conserving that treasure.
“It’s a generational experience,” he said. “I like to tell the team that our job is to create memory and experiences.”
