Primary Day draws future voter

     Miami Lakes Mayor Manny Cid brought his 7-month-old daughter Hailey America Cid to vote with him on Primary Day, Aug. 23.

     Cid posted the photo on Facebook and used it as a teaching moment: It’s never too early to take your child to the polls to instill regular voting habits. 

     He was disappointed at Miami-Dade County’s low turnout of 19 % of 1.9 million voters. Candidates were running for governor; Congress; the state legislature, judgeships; the county commission and school board, among other offices.
