Public Safety Committee will host Identity Theft Protection workshop

Miami Lakes Public Safety Committee will host an Identity Theft Prevention Workshop at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25, in the Town Hall Council chambers at 6601 Main Street. 

The workshop includes an opportunity for residents to bring in their confidential documents for on-site shredding provided by A Shred Ahead from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

A panel of experts from Miami-Dade Police Economic Crimes Division and the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office will discuss what financial information should be protected, how to protect from identity theft and fraud, and what to do if a victim of fraud. 

Attendees may bring up to five (5) banker-sized boxes (15”x12”x10”) of confidential documents for on-site shredding, such as old financial statements, canceled checks, credit card offers, and other outdated documents containing personal information.
