Miami Lakes Public Safety Committee is encouraging the community to be sure to lock vehicles and remove any valuables during the holiday season. Removing gifts and shopping bags from cars, and locking doors, may seem simple enough, but many residents simply forget or get sidetracked due to the stress of the holidays.
The theft of a purse, wallet, or documents with sensitive information can also result in identity theft. These crimes can be prevented by simply locking homes, garage doors, windows and vehicles.
