Rep. Jose Oliva named chair of Economic Affairs Committee

House Speaker Steve Crisafulli has named Representative Jose Oliva of Miami Lakes to serve as chairman of the House Economic Affairs Committee for the 2014-2016 Legislative Term.

“Representative Oliva is a true leader in the Florida House,” Crisafulli said in making the announcement. “Strengthening our economy is the most important issue for Floridians, and as a business man, he understands what it takes to create jobs and keep our economy moving in the right direction.”

The Economic Affairs Committee considers a variety of matters related to Florida’s economy including economic and community development, workforce development, unemployment compensations, tourism, affordable housing, transportation planning and finance, highway and waterway safety, and the sale, ownership, and operation of vehicles as well as issues related to growth management and emergency management.
