Special honors announced at State of Town Address

During Mayor Manny Cid’s annual State of the Town Address on October 9 at Town Hall, special recognition’s were made to honor the outstanding efforts by volunteers, employees and businesses.

BankUnited and Anacapri Italian Restaurant were named the large, and small, Businesses of the Year, respectively. These awards are presented to businesses that promote economic growth and community involvement.

Pedro Fiallo was honored as Volunteer of the Year. Fiallo is an active member of the Elderly Affairs and Veterans Affairs committees, and the local American Legion.

Renee Wilson was named Employee of the Year. Wilson is the Grants and Government Affairs manager and was the key personnel that helped the Town acquire over $6.4 million in grants, including the $3.6 million County Incentive Grant Program from the Florida Department of Transportation to support the 59th Avenue Roadway Extension and Redevelopment Project.

The State of the Town Address was sponsored by JetStream Federal Credit Union. A pre-reception was catered by the Miami Lakes Educational Center’s Culinary Arts program and the post-reception featured libations from Standing Ovations Catering.
