"The Spot" Youth Center is now open

The Youth Center at Miami Lakes Park East is officially open. On November 21, the Town celebrated the Grand Opening of “The Spot” with hundreds of town youth in attendance.

The state-of-the-art 4,000 square-foot facility consists of multipurpose activity rooms and classrooms for after school educational programs and tutoring, a quiet area for studying, active area with games and televisions, and al lounge area with an outdoor patio.

The building and park are completely WiFi accessible with a free Town WiFi Hot Spot.

In addition, the Youth Center is equipped with a billiard table, table tennis, indoor basketball shootout game, and Amazon Kindles and Insignia Flex Tables. Other amenities include a half basketball court, central outdoor courtyard, and a new state-of-the-art playground.

The Youth Activities Task Force thanked Ivan and Marcela Kozupytsya of Ben and Jerrys Miami Lakes who donated a tree that was placed next to the new playground, and over $2,000 of games.
