Government Thursday, May 4, 2017

Mayor Manny Cid and the Town of Miami Lakes will host a reception at Town Hall, 6601 Main Street, on Thursday, May 4,, beginning at 8 a.m. in observance of the National Day of Prayer.
A light breakfast will be served followed by a musical ensemble from the Elevate Church Worship Band and prayers from members of local houses of worship.

“Since President Washington’s swearing in, prayer has played a pivotal role in the truth that our rights come from God and not government,” said Cid. “The National Day of Prayer celebration reminds us of faith’s prominent place in our nation’s founding.”

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the U.S. Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
