WSCV Channel 51 news anchor Ambrosio Hernandez, who was the moderator for the debate between Florida Gubernatorial candidates Rick Scott and Charlie Crist in 2014, will be the middleman for a debate with candidates for Miami Lakes Town Council.

The open to the public free event is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 26, at Miami Lakes Town Hall, 6601 Main Street.

As a public information service, the Town will be webcasting the forum live on the Town's website and via Facebook Live. The video will be available for viewing thereafter at www.miamilakes-fl.gov/meetings under the “Specialty” tab.

The Council Candidate Debate provides an opportunity to hear each candidate’s position on the Town’s top priorities. Members of the public wishing to submit questions for the debate may email candidateforum@miamilakes-fl.gov.

Political newcomer and attorney Jefferey Rodriguez and Xiomora Pazos, an CEO and president of a non-emergency medical transportation company, are seeking Seat 2 on November 6 to replace Tim Daubert, who’s term-limited.

Newcomer Carlos O. Alvarez and Esther Colon are vying for Seat 6, hoping to supplant Ceasar Mestre, who’s also term-limited.

Attorney Joshua Dieguez automatically won Seat 4 at the end of the town’s qualifying period, as he replaces Vice Mayor Frank Mingo, who vacated his seat to run for state representative.

Also, the Miami Lakes Bar Association will host its debate for candidates at 7 p.m., Wednesday, October 3. at Italy Today, 6743 Main Street.

Complimentary appetizers and drinks will be provided. A cash bar will be available.

Attendance is free and open to members of the Miami Lakes community. However, registration is required to ensure appropriate space and food for attendees.
