The Town of Miami Lakes is working with Florida Power & Light to create a storage site for boats and commercial vehicles owned by Miami Lakes residents.

At the Town Council’s February 11 meeting, Town Manager Alex Rey requested funding of $500 for an application fee in order to begin a FP&L review process of the proposal.

The town has identified a location near the corner of N.W. 77 Avenue and 145 Street, as the best location for the proposed facility.

Since the site is owned by FP&L, a land use agreement application, application fee, and site sketch must be submitted for the review process to begin. Town staff has been in touch with the utility which has tentatively approved the general concept.

Prior to entering a lease agreement, the town will develop a site plan that will be presented to the surrounding community for feedback.
