On October 10, Miami Lakes Councilmember Nelson Rodriguez presented Lissette Campos-Perez with a proclamation in honor of her being named the Tampa Chamber of Commerce and Hispanic Heritage Foundation Hispanic Woman and Business Woman of the Year.

Campos-Perez was raised and educated in Miami Lakes and now serves as the director of Community Affairs for ABC Action News Tampa. She has received four Emmy Awards and over 20 local and national awards in TV journalism.

In addition, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences will present Campos-Perez with a special Emmy Award for her 25 years in the business during a ceremony to be held at the Westin Diplomat Resort in Hollywood, Florida, on November 23.

“The proclamation during Hispanic Heritage Month is given to her as a way of saying the Town of Miami Lakes does not forget its former residents, who once lived and studied here in our town, and made it big,” said Rodriguez.
