Town honors members of the first Youth Center Council

Government Friday, May 20, 2016

Members of the first ever Miami Lakes Youth Center Council were honored by the Town during the May 3 regular Council meeting. The Youth Council is charged with the responsibility of “governing” the Miami Lakes Youth Center, also known as “The Spot.”

The Youth Council provides its members with opportunities to assume leadership roles, while building valuable skills that will carry into adulthood. The Council meets regularly to discuss the overall progress of the Youth Center, and to discuss ideas for future programming and community service events.

The Youth Council is composed of five middle school students and eight high school representatives.

The middle school members include: Savannah Hernandez, Max Concepcion, Ariana Rejas, Mia Concepcion, and Katerina Sliwinski, all students at Miami Lakes K-8 Center.
The high school representatives include: Ryan Campos and David Turino from Barbara Goleman Senior High; Vanessa and Gabriela Perez-Robles from Monsignor Edward Pace High School; Gabriella and Daniella Brunetti from Mater Lakes Virtual Academy; Lauren Paulet from School for Advanced Studies; and Michael Rodriguez from Christopher Columbus High School.
